Alkarama submitted his case to the Working Group on Enforced Disappearances on 14 June 2010, requesting its intervention with the Yemeni authorities, in order that Abdelhamid Al-Jaishi either be released or put under the authority provided by the law.
Abdelhamid Mohamed Abdellah Al-Jaishi lives in Sana'a. Following his arrest, his family tried to determine his whereabouts and ascertain the reasons for his arrest. The day after his arrest, his parents filed a complaint against his kidnapping with Sana'a's Attorney General on 10 January 2010. They also spoke with the neighborhoods security services, who continue to deny Abdelhamid Al-Jaishi's.
We recall that the Committee against Torture, in its concluding observations, following the second periodic report of Yemen in May 2010, recommended the State Party "take all necessary measures to combat enforced disappearances; the practice of mass arrests without warrants; and arbitrary detention without charge or judicial process."
