Morocco: Abdelrahim Lajouli, abducted from his home in Casablanca

On 30 March 2010, 21 year-old Abdelrahim Lahjouli, a resident of Casablanca, was abducted from his home by anonymous gang of six individuals who presented themselves as police officers. Following his abduction he was taken to an unknown destination and has since disappeared.

Alkarama sent an urgent appeal to the Working Group on Enforced Disappearances (WGEID) on 8 April 2010 requesting their intervention with the Moroccan authorities.

Once Abdelrahim's family has realized he had disappeared, they immediately began searching for him and contacted various local agencies who outright denied any knowledge of his whereabouts.

During the WGEID's visit to Morocco, which took place between 22 and 25 June 2009, it confirmed having received allegations that arrests, abductions and long-term provisory detentions had taken place without victims having had access to legal counsel or family visitation rights.
Alkarama continues to follow Abdelrahim Lahjouli's case in hopes of his reappearance.
