Yemen: Palestinian refugee family continues to be subjected to abuses following forced deportation from Saudi Arabia

The suffering of a family of Palestinian refugees continues after being forcibly deported from Taif, Saudi Arabia to Yemen in 2007. All the members of Al-Hadad family were recently detained by Yemeni security forces and then taken to Sana'a central Prison without any legal proceedings. Although some of the family members were released a week later, the father, Omar Eid Nimer Al-Hadad, and his son Mahmoud (20 years old) are still in detention despite orders from the General Prosecutor to release them. 

Yemen: Authorities Arrest 6 Citizens Released by the Iraqi Authorities Days Earlier

Yemeni security forces at Sana'a international airport arrested six citizens upon their arrival from Iraq at midnight on 14 October 2012. Another 18 Yemenis are still detained by Iraqi authorities including two women and a man who is condemned to death but for whom the Yemeni authorities had obtained assurances that the death sentence will not be carried out.

Yemen: Alkarama and HOOD condemn the death of a Yemeni detainee in Guantanamo

American military authorities declared the death of a 32 year old detainee, Adnan Farhan Abdel Latif al-Sharaabi, in a statement issued on Tuesday 11 September 2012. The statement said that the detainee died on Saturday 8 September 2012, that a team of military doctors performed an autopsy and that some time is needed before the results of the autopsy can be announced.

Alkarama's Yemen office, in cooperation with the National Organisation for Defending Rights and Freedoms "HOOD", organised today, Wednesday 5 September 2012, a meeting to hear the testimonies of the victims of the American drone attack on a civilian car in the Radaa area in the province of Bayda (170 Kilometres south east of the capital Sana) which took place last Sunday 2 September 2012. The raid killed 11 civilians including two children and two women.
