Iraq: Human Rights Committee Presents its Conclusions on the Country's Human Rights Record
On 5 November 2015, the United Nations Human Rights Committee (HRCtee) published its Concluding Observations following its review of Iraq on 26-27 October 2015. Ahead of Iraq's review, Alkarama had submitted a shadow report to the Committee, denouncing the violations of the right to life, the widespread practice of torture and the lack of observance of fair trial guarantees under the pretext of the fight against terrorism. These concerns were shared by the Committee.

On 5 November 2015, Alkarama and Al Wissam Humanitarian Assembly sent a communication to the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) regarding the case of Haitham Al Kaabi, a 44-year-old construction worker disappeared since his arrest in his house in Latifiyah in the Babil Governorate on 18 July 2015.

Denouncing the violations of the right to life, the widespread practice of torture and the lack of observance of fair trial guarantees under the pretext of the fight against terrorism, the report includes several recommendations on how to tackle these issues.

On 23 September 2015, Alkarama and Al Wissam Humanitarian Assembly sent a communication to the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) regarding the case of construction worker, Salam Al Dulaimi, who disappeared in December 2013 following his arrest in the city of Al-Baghdadi by members of the Iraqi Federal Police.
Iraq: Committee on Enforced Disappearances Presents Conclusions on Situation of Enforced Disappearances in the Country
On 18 September, the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) published its Concluding Observations following initial review of Iraq on 7-8 September 2015, for which Alkarama had submitted a shadow report, presenting its main concerns over the situation of enforced disappearances in the country, and in particular the lack of definition and non-criminalisation of enforced disappearance, as well as the widespread use of secret detention and abductions by government-backed militias. Alkarama's concerns were shared by the Committee, which addressed most of the issues raised by the organisation.
