Egypt: 15 previously disappeared victims from the so-called "Zeitoun Cell" now held at Istikbal Tora Prison

According to reliable sources from within Egypt, 15 of the 16 victims from the so-called "Zeitoun Cell" who were arrested on 2 July 2009 (and subsequently enforcedly disappeared), reappeared when they were presented to the Emergency State Security Supreme Court for a hearing on 4 January 2010. They have since been transferred to Istikbal Tora Prison near Cairo. Alkarama had previously submitted their cases to the Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary (WGEID) on 19 August 2009 and as a consequence of their reappearance will submit their cases to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) in due course.

The names of the 15 recently reappeared individuals are as follows:

4. Mr Mohamed Salah Abdel Fattah (aged 27)
5. Mr Mohamed Hussein Ahmed Hussein (aged 24)
6. Mr Adel Gharieb Ahmed (aged 23)
7. Mr Ibrahim Mohamed Taha (aged 29)
8. Mr Sameh Mohamed Taha (aged 24)
9. Mr Ahmed Saad El Awadi (aged 22)
10. Mr Ahmed Ezzat Ali (aged 28)
11. Ahmed El Sayed Nasef (aged 28)
12. Ahmed Farhan Sayed Ahmed (aged 25)
13. Mr Ahmed El Sayed Mahmoud el Mansi
14. Mr Mohamed Khamis El Sayed Ibrahim (aged 33)
15. Mr Yasser Abdel Qader Abd El Fattah Bisar (aged 28)

Only one of 16 individuals, Abdel Hamid Al-Metawalli (aged 22), remains disappeared. Alkarama has informed the WGEID of the reappearances and asked its support in requesting that the Egyptian government clarify the whereabouts of Mr Al-Metawalli.
